Harley Street Rapid Breast Assessment

One Stop Breast Clinic – Same-Day Consultation, Imaging & Results

Our one-stop breast clinic on Harley Street is designed to give you answers quickly. In a single appointment, you can see a specialist consultant, have breast imaging and, where needed, a biopsy with results often available the same day. Led by Mr Debashis Ghosh, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, this streamlined service removes the stress of multiple visits and long waiting times, helping you move from concern to clarity as fast as possible.

What to Expect from Diagnosis to Recovery

Our one-stop model is built around efficiency, privacy and expert-led care. Most patients complete the entire assessment process within a single visit, significantly reducing the time between concern and clarity.

1. Expert Consultation

Your visit begins with a face-to-face consultation with Mr Debashis Ghosh. He will take a detailed history, discuss your symptoms or concerns, perform a clinical breast examination and explain the next steps in clear, straightforward terms. Whether you have been referred by your GP, another specialist, or are attending privately on your own initiative, the consultation is thorough, unhurried and focused entirely on you.

2. On-Site Imaging & Biopsy

Following your consultation, you will be seen by our dedicated radiology team for breast imaging. This may include mammography, ultrasound or both, depending on your age and clinical findings. If an area requires further investigation, a needle biopsy can be performed during the same appointment. Having all three components of the triple assessment available on site removes the need for separate visits and eliminates unnecessary delays.

3. Same-Day Results & Clear Next Steps

In many cases, imaging results and initial biopsy findings are available the same day. Mr Ghosh will review your results with you in person, explain what they mean and outline any recommended next steps. If your results are reassuring, you can leave the clinic with peace of mind. If further investigation or treatment is needed, a personalised care plan is discussed immediately, with fast-track access to our multidisciplinary team and surgical services.

The Triple Assessment – Your Complete Diagnostic Pathway

The triple assessment is the gold-standard approach to evaluating breast concerns in the UK. It combines three complementary investigations in a single visit, giving your consultant the clearest possible picture of your breast health. At our Harley Street clinic, all three components are available on site and are performed by specialist practitioners.

A thorough physical examination of the breasts and underarm area, performed by your consultant. This assesses the size, texture and location of any lumps or changes and helps guide the imaging approach. Mr Ghosh will explain each step and answer any questions before, during and after the examination.

  • Breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) – removes the tumour and a margin of surrounding tissue, keeping the rest of the breast intact. Often followed by radiotherapy.
  • Therapeutic mammoplasty – combines cancer removal with breast reshaping for a better cosmetic result, particularly suited to larger-breasted patients.
  • Mastectomy – removal of the entire breast, recommended when cancer is widespread or when the patient prefers this approach. We offer skin-sparing and nipple-sparing techniques to support immediate reconstruction.
  • Sentinel lymph node biopsy – tests whether cancer has spread to the lymph nodes under the arm, helping to avoid unnecessary full lymph node clearance.

Mr Ghosh specialises in oncoplastic surgery, which combines cancer surgery with reconstructive techniques to achieve the best possible outcome in a single operation.

Depending on your age and clinical findings, you may have a mammogram (an X-ray of the breast), an ultrasound scan, or both. These imaging techniques help identify any structural abnormalities within the breast tissue. Our imaging is carried out on site by experienced breast radiologists, with results typically available the same day. MRI may also be arranged where additional detail is needed.

If imaging reveals an area that needs further investigation, a fine needle aspiration (FNA) or core biopsy can be carried out during your appointment. This involves taking a small tissue sample using a thin needle, guided by ultrasound for precision. The procedure is quick, performed under local anaesthetic and typically causes only mild discomfort. Results from pathology are usually available within a few days, though preliminary findings may be discussed the same day.

For patients with a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors, we offer genetic testing for BRCA1, BRCA2 and other hereditary mutations. This can be discussed during your one-stop appointment and, where appropriate, referred to our genetics service for full assessment and counselling. Early identification of genetic risk enables proactive screening plans and, if desired, risk-reducing options.

If a diagnosis of breast cancer is confirmed, sentinel node assessment helps determine whether cancer cells have spread to the lymph nodes. Our clinic uses advanced techniques including OSNA (One-Step Nucleic Acid Amplification) for intraoperative analysis, providing results during surgery to guide immediate decision-making. This avoids the need for a second operation in many cases.
