Choose Your Implant
There’s much to consider when it comes to choosing the right implants for your boob job surgery. Harley Street Breast Clinic is proud to provide beautiful breast implants in London just right for you. With our level of skill and attention to detail, you’re bound to be thrilled with the results.
Saline implants
Saline breast implants are filled with a sterile saltwater solution. If the implants rupture, they noticeably deflate and the liquid is safely reabsorbed by the body. Saline implants are also popular as they require only small incisions on the breast which leaves less noticeable scars.
The downside to these implants is that they are prone to deflating and rippling. Saline implants also generally look and feel less natural compared with silicone.
Silicone implants
Silicone implants are filled with either a thick gel or softer fluid which emulates natural breasts in look, feel, and movement. If the implants were to tear, the silicone keeps its shape. This lowers the risk of silicone entering the bloodstream.
These implants, however, are more expensive and require slightly larger incisions than saline implants. Because it’s difficult to know if the implants have ruptured, women with silicone implants should have an MRI every three years following surgery, and then once every two years from then on.
Reconstructive implants
Women who’ve had a single or double mastectomy can benefit from immediate or delayed reconstructive implants.
Immediate reconstruction involves reconstructing the breast right after the mastectomy. It has the benefit of simplifying treatment and many women prefer waking up with a fully formed breast.
Delayed reconstruction is performed some time after the mastectomy, particularly if the patient is undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Women having delayed reconstruction may choose to have natural tissue implants. With this procedure, the new breast is shaped with tissue, skin, and muscle taken elsewhere from the body. Tissue transfer surgery is not used for cosmetic purposes, as it increases side-effects and scarring.
Size
The size of your implants will be decided based upon your anatomy, the elasticity of your skin, and how you want your breast enhancement to look. Your breast surgeon on Harley Street will let you know the largest implant size safe for you body.
Shape
You may opt to have your implants round or teardrop shaped. Round implants are popular as they add fullness, and hold their shape and position even in the case of rotation. Tear drop implants look natural, but need to be moved back into place with surgery is they rotate.
